Overview
Lake Manyara packs groundwater forest, open grassland, acacia woodland and an alkaline lake into one narrow strip beneath the Rift Valley wall. It is best known for its tree-climbing lions and large baboon troops, with elephant, giraffe, hippo and huge numbers of waterbirds along the shoreline. It pairs naturally with Tarangire and Ngorongoro on 3 to 5 day itineraries.
