Mikumi National Park

Mikumi is the most accessible big-game park in southern Tanzania. Its Mkata floodplain is often compared to the Serengeti in miniature, with lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo and impala on open plains that make wildlife easy to spot. We reach it by 50-minute flight from Zanzibar, by ferry and SGR train via Morogoro, or by road from Dar es Salaam, so it works as a day trip or a two to four night safari.
